Fall Study: N. T. Wright's The Case for the Psalms
September 10–October 22

Widely regarded as the modern C. S. Lewis, N. T. Wright, one of the world’s most trusted and popular Bible scholars and the bestselling author of Simply Christian and Surprised by Hope, presents a manifesto urging Christians to live and pray the Bible’s Psalms in The Case for the Psalms. Wright seeks to reclaim the power of the Psalms, which were once at the core of prayer life. He argues that, by praying and living the Psalms, we enter into a worldview, a way of communing with God and knowing him more intimately, and receive a map by which we understand the contours and direction of our lives. For this reason, all Christians need to read, pray, sing, and live the Psalms. By providing the historical, literary, and spiritual contexts for reading these hymns from ancient Israel’s songbook, The Case for the Psalms provides the tools for incorporating these divine poems into our sacred practices and into our spirituality itself.

Christmas Tea

Date: Saturday, December 7, 2018 (Registration opens in October. Check back for date)
Time: Program begins at 2 p.m. in the Sanctuary We encourage guests to arrive at 1:30 to allow time for parking and seating in the Sanctuary.

All women of the church are invited to a program in the Sanctuary followed by an afternoon of Christmas fellowship and tea. Women are encouraged to invite friends as an outreach opportunity. Men of the church help serve as butlers.

The Women’s Christmas Tea has become one of Bel Air's most beloved annual traditions. It is not only a time for the women of Bel Air to gather in the Christmas season, but it enables us to invite women from outside the church community and those who may not have a church home, to spend an afternoon on our campus. Every year hundreds of women are introduced to Bel Air Church through this festive afternoon event which kicks-off the holiday season.

As a Tea Hostess, you will be setting a table using your own china, napkins, and decorations. Welcoming newcomers to the church is the real purpose of a Christmas Tea Hostess. Don’t forget that you are more important than the table being "perfect." Each registration is good for ONE table which seats 10.

All Guests are asked to bring a paper plate full of individual sized dessert items (pre-portioned). The Guest Registration will allow you plus 3 friends to sit together- maximum of 4 guests. Consider yourself as the First Guest. There is no cost to attend, but donations are appreciated. Each year over 100 men of Bel Air join forces to make this a special event for our ladies and their guests. We are always in need of Butlers to help make this event possible. It's a great way to meet new people in the church and have a memorable time on campus.
