Serve the World

A Passport Around the World with Bel Air Church's Global Partners

Bel Air Church has prayerfully committed to key partnerships with six churches around the world. Through these partnerships, we share values of compassion and service in how we bring REVIVAL and RENEWAL to others in Jesus’ Name:

•    We disciple and commission short-term mission teams and welcome international leaders, as we seek to grow alongside one another.
•    We serve as a catalyst amongst our global partners and encourage them to serve in mission with one another; we also bridge our global mission teams with local (Los Angeles) service opportunities.
•    We continually review, reflect, and refine our partnerships so that our communities may thrive and be enriched.

Brazil :: First Presbyterian Church :: Manaus

Bel Air’s mission teams have served in Brazil by caring for the sick via medical mission boats and witnessing to the children in VBS.

In 2018-2019, Bel Air is committed to supporting Manaus First Presbyterian through:

•    An Amazon medical boat, providing medicine and relief
•    Digital Inclusion – Forest Computing School

Manaus is a city in the northern part of Brazil and capital of Amazonas State. Located on the Negro River and near its confluence with the Amazon River, it is the chief port and a hub for the region's extensive river system – a vessel for God’s Work!

The Manaus Presbyterian Church has thousands of enthusiastic young adult members and a great vision for missions. They have developed a very effective holistic approach to ministry by helping thousands of poor families living on the shores of Rio Negro and the Amazon, planting dozens of new churches in the Amazon rain forest and beyond, and meeting in approximately 500 Bible study/small groups around Manaus and outreaching to the villages.

China :: Protestant Churches and Bible Schools :: Harbin

Bel Air’s mission teams have served in Harbin by teaching English to students and caring for the elderly and disabled.

In 2018-2019, Bel Air is committed to supporting Harbin Protestant Churches in:

•    Special Education Programs
•    English Studies
•    Medical Care
•    Student Scholarships

Harbin is ranked as the tenth largest city in China, serving as a key political, economic, scientific, cultural and communications center of Northeastern China.

Donald and Wei Hong Snow, Presbyterian missionaries in China, say: "From a perspective of Christian witness, it is important to have foreign Christians serving in China at the invitation of Chinese Christians because in this way their service reflects the concern of Chinese Christians as well as those from other countries. In China, a nation where many people still assume Christianity is distinctly a Western faith, cooperation between Chinese Christians and those of other nations is an important witness to the universality of the church."

Through our partnership in Harbin and the leadership of Pastors Li Meilan and Lu Dezh, our impact reaches four churches and two Bible schools in the city.

Democratic Republic of Congo :: Communate Evangelique Au Centre de l'Afrique :: Bunia

Bel Air’s mission teams have served in the Congo by outreaching to the villages and training city officials/public servants.

In 2018-2019, Bel Air is committed to supporting Communate Evangelique Au Centre de l’Afrique by:

•    Providing food and relief supplies for 1,000 people
•    Covering costs in trauma healing and reconciliation meetings for over 10,000 people
•    Helping to rebuild 2 churches that were recently burned
•    Serving 29 orphans at the House of Grace
•    Serving 40 orphans through school scholarships
•    Serving 40 widows at the Dorcas Club Widows Ministry

The Democratic Republic of Congo is 1/4 the size of the USA with 80 million people, over 200 ethnic groups, and 700 languages and dialects. Since 1996, The Democratic Republic of Congo has been racked with wars—civil and tribal—that, sadly, continue to this day. In fact, over 5.4 million people have been killed which is the highest toll since World War II.

Communate Evangelique Au Centre de l'Afrique church in Bunia, has become a leader in reconciliation and training of pastors and Christian leaders. Many surrounding churches are still divided along tribal lines, but the Bunia church sets an example with a multi-tribal staff and congregation. The church emphasizes three areas of worship: (1) Interior growth, (2) Equipping the community to serve God and others, and (3) Mission expeditions to train other pastors and encourage developing churches in the surrounding areas.

Egypt :: Kasr El Dobara Evangelical Church :: Cairo

Bel Air’s mission teams have served in Egypt through Healing Grace’s ministries as well as some television/communications trainings.

In 2018-2019, Bel Air is committed to supporting Kasr El Dobara by:

•    Covering all expenses of a 10-Day discipleship school in Baghdad for Iraqi youth

Five blocks from the Nile River and tucked into a crowded neighborhood is the largest Protestant church in the Arab world, Kasr El Dobara. What fertile ground for God’s Name! The vision of Kasr El Dobara Evangelical Church was built upon the blessing of Egypt found in Isaiah 19:25, "Blessed is Egypt, My people."

Considering Kasr El Dobara’s location and prominence in the region, they are able to outreach to and serve beyond their borders in areas such as Baghdad and parts of Europe. Through KDEC’s partnerships, Bel Air has also engaged with Healing Grace, a village transformation ministry: fresh water programs, child sponsorship, and mercy ministries (spiritual, social, and emotional needs).

India :: Bihar Christian Church :: Patna

Bel Air’s mission teams have served in Patna through leadership development, church planting, and compassion ministry.

In 2018-2019, Bel Air is committed to supporting Bihar Christian Church by:

•    Supporting native evangelists in finding the unreached
•    Providing tuition for 20 school teachers
•    Training women leaders in Bible studies to spread the Gospel

Bihar has traditionally been known as the graveyard of missions since the arrival of the first Baptist missionaries in 1792. Despite over 200 years of missionary endeavors, Bihar's 90 million people are living in over 40,000 villages without a church. There is Work to be done here!

Bihar Ministry seeks to find the unreached and share the Gospel with them. Through their partnerships with local churches and villages, they raise up disciples in an area of the world that is often spiritually dry and dark. Much remains to be done, but the church is growing at a phenomenal rate in that state – praise be to God! During the last ten years, the total Christian population grew from 2,000 to 60,000. It is still a small minority, but they are enjoying the Holy Spirit’s outpouring of blessings.

South Africa :: The Maranatha Community Church :: Kempton Park, Johannesburg

Bel Air’s mission teams have served alongside Maranatha’s congregants in outreach around Kempton Park as well as villages on the outskirts in Embo.

In 2018-2019, Bel Air is committed to supporting The Maranatha Community Church in:

•    AIDS relief and community outreach in Embo
•    Prison Ministry Outreach

Kempton Park is a suburb of Johannesburg, with the largest population in South Africa. Although the government ended apartheid in 1994, the area continues to be challenged by racial issues and turmoil.

The Maranatha Community Church in Kempton Park was founded in 1907 as the first non-denominational church in South Africa. Now, between 4,000-5,000 people attend this church weekly. The main focus of Maranatha is to love and equip people through leadership development, small groups, evangelism, and missions.

International Organizations We Support

In addition to Global Partnerships, Bel Air Church also supports several organizations that are working to spread the Gospel around the world.

Fuller Theological Seminary School of Intercultural Studies
Fuller is one of the largest multi-denominational seminaries in the world, providing professional and graduate-level education in schools of theology, psychology, and intercultural studies. The curriculum for the School of Intercultural Studies integrates the social sciences with historical, theological and biblical studies to provide a solid basis for understanding the complexities facing us in the 21st century and is dedicated to equipping men and women to cross the barriers that block people from seeing, hearing, and believing the gospel.

ScholarLeaders International
A non-profit ministry focused on developing servant leaders for the majority-world Church by identifying and investing in the advanced theological education of gifted Christian leaders from Africa, Asia, Latin America, and Eastern Europe.

Bel Air Church also supports missionaries around the world. Here are a few examples:
