Thoughts from Director of Worship and Arts, Mark Aaron Humphrey:

Unlike any other art form, music is dead until it is taken from the page to the listener by the musician, or in this case, the worship leaders. There’s something very special about reviving a piece of art from 1774, but that in and of itself is not enough. If the experience is simply a performance, we have failed as worship leaders and become what the psalmist called “a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.” Part of this responsibility rests on the worship leadership to prayerfully and humbly offer their gifts. It is equally important that the worshiping body of Christ seek the same prayerful humility and sincerity in the offering of your mind, your voice, and your spirit to glorifying God, drawing closer to him and to understanding him better as a result of your time in worship. This is our prayer for you and for us all as God’s Church today.
