Communications Specialist ::
SUMMARY ::
The Communications Specialist is responsible for various aspects of creative design work in publications, media, promotional, and advertising collateral for Bel Air Presbyterian Church. The CS will be actively involved in the development and production of these materials primarily through print and web graphic design. The CS will work with all departments within Bel Air Presbyterian Church.
This position requires solid understanding of, and continued education on, web site construction and maintenance, HTML, CSS, Flash, FTP, and all Adobe graphic design programs. It also requires a creative eye in adherence to Communications Department guidelines and graphic standards.
In addition to having excellent creativity, the ideal candidate will be a strong multi-tasker, have the ability to manage their workflow efficiently, and be able to work as a member of a team. The ideal candidate will also adopt the church’s vision of making Los Angeles the greatest city for Christ, and recognize that his or her position plays an important role in striving toward that vision.
KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES ::
Web Design
* Develop and maintain graphic presentation of new pages, sites
* Work closely with Director of Communications and other departments to develop new site layouts
and concepts
* Create Flash elements for main church site and individual ministry sites
* Maintain all of our web sites - both information and functionality
* Produce the weekly eNews (electronic newsletter) and special event eBlasts
* Coordinate audio and video archive/streaming, shopping carts, blogs, and more for our sites
* HTML, CSS expertise
* Wordpress, Java, and ASP experience preferred, but not mandatory
Print Graphic Design
* Create designs for brochures, advertising, curriculum, etc. as assigned by the Director of Communications
* Illustration of logos and peripheral material for departments as assigned.
Communications Team Involvement
* Attend meetings for and provide input to the Communications Team on new projects and campaigns as requested.
General
* Assist as needed with other elements related to Communications Department, including print production, editing, meeting with internal departments, and more.
PLATFORM :: Mac OS
SOFTWARE EXPERTISE ::
Adobe Creative Suite 3–5 (InDesign, Illustrator, PhotoShop, DreamWeaver, Flash), Microsoft Office for Mac. Final Cut Suite a plus. Knowledge of Facebook and Twitter a plus.

Early Childhood Caregivers
Bel Air Presbyterian Church (PCUSA) is currently seeking part-time (5–6 hrs. per week [Wednesday and Sunday mornings, plus special events]) nursery caregivers for our Early Childhood Discipleship program. These are ministry positions, and all applicants must be strong Christians currently attending and involved in their home churches. Knowledge of and experience in early childhood development (birth–5 years) a plus.
