edge :: 9th–12th Grade Discipleship

Edge is a relational youth ministry committed to connecting students with Jesus. Everything we do has that as a goal. Each year we do many trips and events where relationships can foster and grow, such as Forest Home Winter Camp, Summer Camping Experiences and Mission Trips. We also encourage students to participate in a small group to study the Bible together and encourage each other throughout the school year. It is through these Small Groups that some of the most growth happens in the lives of students. Weekly meetings of support, accountability, study and prayer provide faith building discipleship.

Pieces of the Program

Sunday Morning Programs :: Our Sunday morning meeting is held weekly in the Student Center from 9–10:30 a.m. We begin the morning with all high schoolers together for announcements, skits and songs of worship led by our student/leader band. Then we break into teaching times in which 9th and 10th graders split into small groups while the Juniors and Seniors stay together for a more focused and interactive teaching. On the first Sunday of the month, high school students attend one of the main worship services at 9am or 901.

Refuge Groups
:: Designed specifically for connecting midweek, these groups meet in various locations on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. This is a great time of catching up with friends midweek, playing a game and digging into an interactive teaching time. A coed all grades Refuge Group meets at the church on Tuesdays from 6:30-8:30 pm.

Events :: Our fun get together to hang out and bring friends. Check out the events page for upcoming opportunities.

Service Opportunities :: One morning or afternoon a month dedicated to serving others in the community.

Camps + Retreats :: Overnight adventures intended to give students a chance to experience God outside of their normal routine. Our camps and retreats include class retreats, Forest Home Winter Camp and Summer Houseboats. Upcoming Camp & Retreat Dates:
Forest Home Winter Camp :: February 28-March 2, 2014
Houseboats :: July 6-11, 2014
Mission Experiences :: A chance to serve and learn within a different culture. Currently, we offer a mission experience every summer, alternating each year with stateside and worldwide experiences.  Upcoming opportunity:

          High School Brazil Trip :: June 21-29, 2014 (exact dates to be determined based on flight schedules)

Confirmation:: Confirmation is a time when young people claim the promises that were made on their behalf in baptism. It is an opportunity to learn what Presbyterians believe and to become full-fledged members of Bel Air Presbyterian Church. Students who have not been baptized will have the opportunity to do so when they are confirmed.

At Bel Air, the confirmation program (also called Confo) is available for students in 8th – 10th grade. The program consists of a parent/student orientation, 7 classes, a retreat, a mentor relationship, church attendance, a service opportunity and study of the material. Because we take this step on your faith journey seriously, all of these pieces are mandatory to be part of the program. Students have three years to participate, so if scheduling conflicts prohibit participation one year, we encourage you to wait until another year when you are able to make the commitment to the program.

The cost of the program is $100 per student, which helps cover the cost of the materials, the retreat, classes and Confo luncheon. Please do not allow the cost of the program to prohibit participation as scholarships are available.

Dates for our next Confo session are March 30- June 1, 2014.
