Senior Pastor

Rev. Dr. Drew Sams :: Senior Pastor

Administration

Mark Phillips :: Executive Director
    One of your proudest moments:
    The birth of each of my three children
    What inspires you?
    My wife and kids
    If you could go on vacation anywhere, where would you go?
    Hawaii – snorkeling, golfing, eating, and a whole lot of relaxing
    Your fondest memory:
    My wedding day – right here at Bel Air!
    Why did you first come to Bel Air?
    The opportunity to serve God's kingdom while working

Joyce Gans Leckie ::
Director of Human Resources

    What brought you to Bel Air?
    I first came to BAPC more than 30 years ago. I lived nearby and thought it looked interesting when I was driving by.
    Why do you stay?
    I keep coming back because it is "home" (and, of course, the wonderful preaching of God's word and the great people).
    Most memorable moments:
    My 2 most memorable experiences have been the birth of my daughters. I am very proud of both of them!

Melissa Sique ::
Receptionist

    Your favorite Disneyland ride?
    Space Mountain
    What are you reading right now?
    Kisses from Katie
    Favorite snack?
    cookies & milk

Kristen Farlow ::
Executive Assistant to the Senior Pastor

    What inspires you?
    Bible, friends and laughter.
    One of your proudest moments:
    Coming to Christ.
    What are you passionate about now, that you didn't even consider a few years ago?
    Being with friends and family. They are the #1 priority in my life.

Ellen Baker ::
Database Admin, Membership

    What are you passionate about now, that you didn't even consider a few years ago? What inspires you? What is your biggest challenge?
    That's easy. The answer to all of the above is our granddaughter, Hannah, who just turned four. Raising a child again, after a brief time of empty-nesterhood, is certainly not what my husband, Ken, and I thought we'd be doing in our 50s, but this unexpected blessing has become an amazing source of joy and inspiration. Just recently, we visited the Getty Museum, and as we were leaving one of the pavilions, Hannah said "Wow, we need to thank God for that," and she stopped, folded her hands, and said a quick prayer of thanks for the museum. I look forward, both at home and here at Bel Air, to what the Lord has in store for us in the coming years.

    What has God shown you lately that has surprised you?
    God has shown me the truly awesome power of prayer. He is faithful and His timing is always perfect. What an amazing blessing to have Him watching over and protecting us.
    If you could go on vacation anywhere, where would you go?
    Hawaii. It's just beautiful. Like no place I've ever been. Foreign and yet familiar.
    What beach do you claim as your own?
    Zuma. My husband, children, and I love to watch the sunsets there.

Donna McNamara ::
Communications Coordinator

What inspires you?
Women who have walked a path similar to the one I am on, and their inspirational way of handling life, love and all along, clinging to their relationship with Jesus.
Your favorite movie:
"The Sound of Music" is my all-time favorite. I went to see it in the theater with my Dad, just the two of us, when it came out in 1965. It was a very big deal since I am one of 7 children (just like the Von Trapps!).
Your current soundtrack?
I usually like to listen to my Michael Bublé playlist to be productive, and my Amy Grant/Michael W. Smith playlist to be inspired.

Julie Sather ::
Communications Specialist

    What is your favorite snack?
    Candy! But not all candy….Gummi bears, cola bottles, twin cherries…just about anything made by Haribo.
    Something most people don't know about you:
    I'm a country girl at heart.
    If you could go on vacation anywhere, where would you go?
    I would travel to all 50 states in a motorhome.

    All of the amazing live music venues we have! I go to concerts as often as I can—my favorites are Largo, Troubadour, the Wiltern, and Hotel Café.
    What has God shown you lately that has surprised you?
    That His vision for my life is so much more fulfilling, challenging, interesting, and joy-filled than anything I might have planned for myself!

Discipleship: Children, Youth, and Young Adults

More about Keenan...
Rev. Keenan Barber ::
Pastor of Youth & Young Adult Discipleship

    Your first job:
    I worked at Heidi's Frogen Yozurt (and yes, I did spell that correctly). In Palm Springs in the summer, it was a GREAT job!
    Your biggest challenge:
    Juggling a wife, three kids, a great job, and still finding some time here and there for a round of golf. Yeah right!
    What are you reading right now?
    "Exiles: Living Missionally in a Post-Christian Culture" by Michael Frost.
    Your favorite movie:
    A toss up between "Star Wars" (the original one) and "The Sound of Music".
    What's something new that you've learned about the Bible that has surprised you?
    That as much as I thought it provided "answers" it also provides some questions that lead us into a place of living in tension. A tension between what is and how it really should be.

    What's one goal you have for the next year?
    Play on the Golfchannel Amateur Tour.

Lauren Garcia ::
Assistant to Children & Youth Discipleship

    What is your favorite LA attraction?
    I was a tour guide at Universal Studios for the last four years, so I know the studio and theme park like the back of my hand.  Although I am super excited to move on, that studio tour will always have a special place in my heart!
    What is your favorite snack?
    OK, this sounds gross, but it’s delicious!  Get some Ritz crackers, put peanut butter on half of them and slices of cheese on the rest.  Get a glass of orange juice with ice.  Now, consume in any order you choose.  My mom used to make this snack for me during the mad dash between school and dance, and although I don’t eat it as often anymore, I will always love it!
    What is your favorite movie?
    The 5-hour BBC version of Pride & Prejudice starring Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle (aka the only version worth mentioning)!  I can quote pretty much the entire movie, visualize it without watching, and talk about it forever.  So, if you’re in the mood to do a lot of listening, come ask me about it!

Amanda Baker Browning ::
Coordinator of Early Childhood Discipleship

    What is something people don't know about you?
    I used to sing in a cover band back in South Carolina and also out here in Los Angeles. My favorite song to sing would have to be, "Livin' on a Prayer" by Bon Jovi. I gained a new appreciation for 80's music!
    If you could go anywhere on vacation, where would it be?
    If I could go on vacation anywhere, I'd go to Italy. I've always wanted to tour the countryside in Tuscany, hike to the five small fishing villages in Cinque Terre, drive along the Amalfi coast, and eat all of the wonderful food.
    What is your greatest indulgence?
    My greatest indulgence would have to be a southern meal prepared by my grandmother. It's not southern cooking without butter and fat! Fried chicken and homemade biscuits come to mind.

Clay Collier ::
Coordinator of Young Adults

    Space Mountain!
    Favorite L.A. Attraction:
    Santa Monica Beach volleyball courts

    What is your most memorable experience?
    My most memorable experience was my wedding day! It was the most best day of my life, so far! I married my best friend, danced a ton, and served In-N-Out (my favorite food) to our guests. It was honestly so much fun, and everyone I love was there. I couldn’t ask for a more prefect or memorable experience.
    What is your favorite Disneyland ride?
    My favorite Disneyland ride has always been Splash Mountain. But recently I went on the new ride in Carsland called Radiator Springs Racing, and it was amazing! I really love Disneyland, I have a season pass and go all the time!
    Your current soundtrack?
    My current sound track includes Justin Bieber, One Direction, and Carly Rae Jepsen. If you think this is weird, please see my Job title above.  When I am not listening to the latest pre-teen hits, I enjoy worship bands like Urban Rescue, Gungor, and David Crowder.

Tom Harrits ::
Coordinator to High School Discipleship

    What inspires you?
    Waukesha, WI! It's my hometown and the kickinest city on the face of the planet!! I love Waukesha!!
    What has God shown you lately that has surprised you?
    He really is real. Just as real as any person we know very closely. Only He's God too. And that is a very cool thing.
    Why did you first come to Bel Air?
    When I came to my first Bel Air service, before anything even started, I was hit with this feeling of peace that put me at ease and made me feel completely at home. And that feeling led me to keep coming back and settle in.

    One of your proudest moments:
    I'd have to say the birth of my kids. Although I had very little to do with it.
    Your biggest challenge:
    Being the man God wants me to be and not being the jerk that I am.
    Why did you first come to Bel Air?

    Why do you stay?
