Living with Jesus is a hair-raising adventure. That’s because he’s got us on a mission. His Father had sent him on a mission. And he sends us on a mission. What’s the mission? It’s to make disciples.

Here’s how he put it: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age” (Matthew 28:19-20).

There are a few parts to this: (1) Before I can make a disciple, I’ve got to start being one myself; that starts with baptism, which is how we become a part of the community of disciples (the church). (2) Next, obedience; before I can teach someone how to obey, I’ve got to start figuring it out for myself. (3) And then helping others become disciples of Jesus too.

This is our mission. It’s a life lived for Jesus, like Jesus, and with Jesus. What an adventure! Well, how does it happen at Bel Air Presbyterian Church?

It happens through transformational relationships—community—friends (or people who become friends) that meet together weekly for five purposes: to Study God’s Word, Worship the Lord, Care for Each Other, Love our Neighbors, and Relate as Friends. This is what we call a Small Group.

We also gather in what we call Discipleship Communities. These are networks of Small Groups who band together for greater impact as disciples. These Communities are defined by age and stage (single parents, university students, etc.) or interest (women’s ministry, entertainment arts, etc.) or neighborhoods (Santa Monica, North Hollywood, etc.)

We hope you will join us in becoming and making disciples of Jesus. Let us help you link up with some new friends who need your help and who will offer theirs to you. Live the mission.
